Lending money with confidence to our 3 million customers.

About Us

At HFC Bank we believe in concentrating on what we know best - helping people organise their short and medium term credit needs so they can buy the things they want. Currently we provide this service to over 3 million people throughout the UK, making us one of the UK's largest pure consumer finance businesses. We have earned this position by truly understanding our customers' needs.

We provide products and services through a nationwide branch network and by providing finance through retailers such as B&Q, Currys, Dixons and PC World.

We are also ideally placed to play a leading role in the e-commerce revolution as we have the necessary technology and marketing skills aligned with the ability to bring products to the market quickly. The successful launch of the marbles™ brand and credit card in 1999 is a prime example.

Details of our products and services can be found throughout this site.

HFC Bank Limited subscribes to the Banking Code, a voluntary code which sets standards of good banking practice for financial institutions to follow when they are dealing with customers in the UK. A copy of the Banking Code can be downloaded by visiting the Banking Code Standards Board at www.bankingcode.org.uk.

HFC History

HFC Bank was established in 1973 as the UK arm and wholly-owned subsidiary of Household International Inc, one of the largest independent consumer finance businesses in the United States.

In the UK, we have adapted and moulded ourselves over the last 30+ years to ensure we have remained at the forefront of consumer finance. Initiatives such as being the first high street lender to open on a Saturday and having children´s play areas in our branches have helped keep us ahead of the pack.

In 1998, HFC Bank merged with Beneficial Bank resulting in a new bank in terms of scale, size and opportunity. This merger was a significant milestone in our history - expanding our market presence and improving our growth potential.

In March 2003 both Household International Inc. and HFC Bank plc became part of the HSBC Group. Subsequently HFC Bank has become a limited company.
